Not always our news are good. On Sunday morning we were again broken in and the robbers stole over $500 (cost) in alcohol. This time they entered via the roof and through the ceiling. The police has managed to lift a variety of finger prints and already has a few suspects. We are confident that this time they will catch the culprits.

As you would be aware our club rooms at Ballam Park are progressing well with many area's are now close to completion.  All area's have now been painted with the exception of the floors & a few door frames which have been painted in our club color (blue) very nice too, I am sure the cricket club will be impressed ha-ha.  A new reinforced door has now been fitted on the rear change room giving us access from the change room directly to the foot path & down to the pitch of the main ground.

Another new reinforced door has been fitted at the rear, i.e. the cricket practice area facing the play ground area, not that we use this door ourselves, it's more for security than anything else, while the side door which we do use for access of nets etc has also been repaired, including power points, lighting etc.

Our Canteen floor was re-furbished during the week after removal of the fridge & freezer & is looking bright clean & airy with new stainless steel splash backs, have also been fitted.

For security & visual sight brand new metal gates have now been fitted with securing plate & pins at both sides to retain them when our canteen is open. Hopefully this will help deter the numerous break-ins we continually have; also we can now see Michael, Meredith's and many of our helpers' happy faces when being served. Keep up the good work guys.

A new metal security door has been fitted to our main entrance at the car park end & security lighting, fitted in this area as well. This light is on a separate switch & this is at the bottom of the three (3) in the men's toilet entrance & labeled, please leave this on for obvious reasons when leaving at the end of the day if you lock up. I will also investigate if this can be put on the same sensor as other security lighting around the club rooms.

Tiling in all areas of the change room is now complete, again giving the change rooms a fantastic uplift. Windows and grids have been re furbish & or replaced is some area's. Painting of internal doors & door frames.

Sunday (8/06) post games - the painter will be painting all floors with 2 Pac paint. Due to the current temperatures this will take up to two (2) days to completely dry & go hard, therefore can I ask that all coaches who use the change rooms on Sunday to ensure they are clean left clean after use for this to occur without to much delay.  From Sunday until Wednesday there will be no access at all to the club rooms for anyone within the club thus allowing paint to completely dry thank you.

Canteen Manager - please ensure all rubbish & boxes through out are removed this weekend & placed in the bins outside our club rooms for pick up & removal.   Rubbish is picked up on a Tuesday morning from the club.

A committee meeting will be held at Ballam Park on Wednesday 19th of June at 7:30 PM * If you have any items for discussion & your not on the committee please forward them to any committee member & we will put them forward for you.

Social Night - Well if you missed our last social night you missed out on a great night & Thank you to all those people who assisted to make it a fantastic night.   Well done (Johnny B good) Goodchild of the under 10s & his band for a terrific night Well Done.

By popular demand there is another Social Night Planned for
Saturday 9th August, the band for this one is the "Medley Boys". Like always we would like your suggestions & feed-back as to a possible theme for the night, what do you think ????? Send the suggestions to Mark Brandon (Chopper).
We would like some volunteers to help with this night so if you can help we would love to have you, please send me names of interested people again ASAP.

Canteen Assistance - Could all manages please assist our canteen manager & our club on home games by having a parent to assist for 1/2 an hour post game (not during as we all like to watch our kids play) the profits from the canteen pay our referee's fee's & helps keep our yearly registration down, I do agree we our all busy people although your assistance with this would be gratefully appreciated by our canteen manager Michael & his wife Meredith who put in many hours behind the scene every week cheers.

New Sub Junior Pitches - On Thursday Davo & Chopper measured & marked out new grounds & marked these out also.   These 2 new sub junior grounds are situated on the outside of the main ground & between the outer fence.

Sponsors lecture on Management & Prevention of Injuries - Don't miss this one - On Tuesday 1st July & Wednesday 2nd July at Ballam Park Club Rooms (both days starting at 6pm) due to numbers, our sponsor the Sports Injury Clinic will give a presentation on management & prevention of Injuries, this in valuable presentation will take between 40-50 mins depending on questions etc at the end & will be presented by Richard & is open to all Coaches, Managers, Players & Parents.   Due to the time of the presentation it’s intended to have a pizza night at the same time, cost $2 per head.   For this presentations the club will be split up into two sessions, session 1 will be all teams that train Monday, Tuesday & before 6pm on a Wednesday, while Wednesday nights presentations will be all teams who train from 6pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday's, could all team managers give me total approximate numbers 24 hrs prior to the event for ordering pizza's etc thank you.

Rubbish - Can I please ask that coaches & managers ensure that rubbish is picked up & placed in one of the various bins provided.   To date on a Monday I personally go around all of the grounds & collect a wheel barrow full of rubbish after weekend games, the amount of orange peels & drink bottles is a little over the top this is not the council's or my job & your assistance in this area would be appreciated thank you.

Merchandise - As of last week all merchandise has been moved from Delacombe Park to Ballam Park.   Craig Davis (Davo) is the overall person in charge of this; I have also displayed various items on the two (2) boards inside the club rooms at Ballam Park.   If you would like to purchase any part of the clubs apparel which includes training jackets from size 10 - XXL, caps, bennies, stubby coolers or Daytona Jackets please see Mark (Chopper) or Davo when his boy's are not playing or straight after the game & I am sure they would love to help you. Outside of this our canteen will have a small amount of each item for sale.   Player’s shorts, socks & shirts required for playing for all ages are available from Delacombe Park only

Team Benches - Team benches for Home & Away teams are nearing completion, all being well these should be available for all teams to utilise whom play on the main ground from next week.   These team benches are on wheels & will be stored in the cricket practice area at the rear of the club rooms, on game days these are to be placed in the technical areas situated between the main & new sub junior grounds Thank you Ian Miscamble for your prompt action on this matter.

Color Coding Sub Junior goals, bins nets etc - It is intended in the not to distant future on completion of Saturdays game day for a committee member to direct & assist the Coach, manager & other team helpers to color code these items.   It has become apparent that there is some heart ache for committee whom might be around to assist coaches & managers of sub juniors when obtaining help by your parents, that confusion reigns supreme generally for most of us on what items are required for setting up for your games, & fair enough too.  This will be discussed at the committee meeting to be held on Wednesday 18th June.

Ritchie's Community Benefits Cards - As some of you would already be aware I have started to distribute Ritchie's Community Benefits Cards with key rings & a credit card.   These items have already been registered to the club therefore when you shop you swipe & your club benefits at the same time, now how easy is that.   If your team hasn't received your cards by the end of this week coming please email or phone me I will only be to happy to supply your team with them so our club can benefit each month.

Please don't forget we are all volunteers here at the club & where doing it for the kids.   If at anytime you feel you can help we would love to hear from you even if it's just an hour here & there. (Go on you know you would love to help your kids enjoy their soccer experience at Peninsula Strikers) Come on Get involve, have a go, don't be shy we look forwarded to meeting you.

Keep up the great work Coaches, Managers, players & parents

Uniforms have not arrived in the country and therefore not all the teams will be fitted out for (hopefully only) the first match of the season.

BALLAM PARK

For anyone that had not heard, in the off season we have worked with Frankston City Council to improve our existing facilities and/or provide us with new facilities. After many lengthy meetings and presentations we have secured the Ballam Park (Long Island Cricket Club) facilities from 2008 onwards and nearly all of our matches will be played there. We will still train at Delacombe Park in view of the lighting availability there.
