CHARLEE WEST
Charlee played with Peninsula Soccer Club since the first girls team was started in 2004.
She was always a very dedicated player and it was clear to anyone watching her that this girl would go places. Charlee has a born ability with the ball on her foot.
In 2007 Charlee played in the U14B girls at Peninsula and the team finished second, one point behind the Champions.
In the off-season Charlee participated in the Australian Football Skool Academy. At the same time Charlee also tried out for the National Training Centre (NTC) squad in which she was selected. Note that Charlee is the only player in this squad from the Mornington Peninsula area. Well done.
In March the NTC squad gathered for its first
away trip, with matches against the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI).
The girls were defeated 0-3 and 0-4 in the two matches, however they performed
admirably considering the SASI squad included two current Qantas Matildas.
Both fixtures were played in front of Young Matildas head coach Alen Stajcic,
who was impressed and indicated that some will be invited to future national
training camps.
NTC head coach Matthew Shepherd was pleased with his squads output in
preparation for the Under 13 Boys South Eastern Super League season.
But NTC is not everything for Charlee. Recently
she has been selected for the Victorian State squad. Watch this space for more
details about Charlee in the State team.
